BWF Super Series

Naah..berikut sedikit info mengenai BWF Superseries Premier.. enjoy:))

History beckons at world’s richest badminton tournament

It is the most lucrative event in the OSIM BWF World Superseries 2011 calendar with US$1.2 million on offer and the VICTOR Korea Open Superseries Premier 2011, scheduled from Jan 25-30 will witness exciting line-up of matches in all the categories.

Due to his huge prize money, the VICTOR Korea Open has been listed as one of the five OSIM BWF World Superseries Premier tournaments.
The other four tournaments which are part of the OSIM BWF World Superseries Premier are YONEX All England Superseries Premier 2011 (March 8-13), DJARUM Indonesian Open Superseries Premier 2011 (June 21-26), Denmark Superseries Premier 2011 (Oct 18-23) and LI NING China Open Superseries Premier 2011 (Nov 22-27).

While world No 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and long time arch rival China’s Lin Dan are placed at the different ends of the men’s singles main draw in Korea, they will face a tricky road ahead.
Chong Wei plays Danish shuttler Jan O Jorgensen in the opening round. If the defending champion makes it past the Danish Open champion, there is a strong possibility he could face Chen Jin of China in the quarter-finals.

Lin Dan, meanwhile, is expected to have an easy route to the quarter-finals where he could meet former Olympic gold medalist and world champion Taufik Hidayat – if the Indonesian is fully recovered from his foot injury.
The likes of fourth seed Chen Long and Bao Chunlai of China sit at the top half of the draw while Peter Gade, fresh from finishing second at the VICTOR BWF SuperSeries Masters Finals earlier this month, all have a fair chance of making it to the top four.
India’s badminton darling Saina Nehwal is eager to make an impression on the court after a long lay because of injuries.

She was forced to miss the VICTOR BWF Super Series Finals 2010 in Taiwan last weekend and is also skipping next week’s Proton Malaysia Open but will have a relaxed curtain raiser against Tzu Ying Tai in Korea.

Joining Nehwal in the lower half of the women’s singles draw are lanky Danish player Tine Baun and second seed Wang Shixian.

In the men’s doubles category, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen, seeded first in the tournament, will entertain Malaysian pair Gan Teik Chai-Tan Bin Shen. Another Malaysian team, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, will face host players Cho Gun Woo-Kwon Yi Goo.

Kien Keat-Boon Heong also face an uphill battle as they could play against the likes of Alvent Yulianto Chandra-Hendra Aprida Gunawan in the quarterfinals followed by a possible clash against either Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia or South Koreans Lee Yong Dae-Jung Jae Sung in the top four clash.
Thailand duo Sudket Prapakamol-Saralee Thoungthongkam are out to stamp their authority as they play host players Yoo Yeon Seong-Kim Min Jung.

Eager to prove that their journey to the SuperSeries Masters Finals was no fluke, the Thais could make their way to the final yet again if they adopt the right tactics. They could face it off against top seed Thomas Laybourn-Kamilla Rytter Juhl for a shot at the title.

Expect lots of surprises as the finest shuttlers in the world take on each other for a shot at glory in the richest badminton tournament in history.
